A river cruise built for people who read a "brocante" sign and hit the brakes.
Every stretch of the Rhône between Arles and Lyon runs past a village with a market, a Roman ruin, or both. We’ve chartered the whole ship — the AmaKristina, all 146 berths — so you unpack once and let southern France come to you, one antique-crammed town square at a time.
The centerpiece is a full day at L’Isle sur la Sorgue, the antiques capital of Europe for their bi-annual international antiques fair — canals, water wheels, and stalls of farmhouse furniture and vintage linens spilling down every laneway. Then we do it again the next day at the Barjac antique fair. Two market days, back to back, filled with french antiques.
In between: a truffle hunt with a local guide and their dog, a vintage steam train through the Gorge du Doux, Beaujolais red wine paired with chocolate, Roman ruins at Vienne still standing after two thousand years, and the kind of charming café tables where a two-hour lunch is the correct amount of time.

The Route
Arles to Lyon, seven nights aboard the AmaKristina, one bag heavier coming home than going (or maybe more 😉). Two market days back to back, a truffle hunt, a steam train through a gorge, and Roman ruins still standing after two thousand years.
All Aboard in Arles
Arles — We board the AmaKristina in Arles, the sun-drenched Provençal town that once captivated Van Gogh. Settle into your cabin, explore the lounges and sun deck, and let the week ahead sink in. As afternoon rolls into evening the ship slips her moorings for Avignon, and we toast the start over our first dinner on board.
The Antiques Capital of Europe
Market DayL’Isle sur la Sorgue — The centerpiece. We wake moored in Avignon, and the market at L’Isle sur la Sorgue sprawls across the town’s canals and laneways — weathered farmhouse furniture, delicate vintage linens, and everything in between. Choose your shuttle time and set your own pace. Prefer a day sightseeing? Swap in a guided walk through the Papal Palace, a food tour, a bike tour, or the Pont du Gard.
A Second Flea Market
Market DayBarjac — A second day moored in Avignon means a second chance to dig, this time in the town of Barjac. Or trade the market for a deeper look at the City of the Popes — the Papal Palace and its medieval streets, a specialty food tour, a bike tour, or the Pont du Gard. Either way, dinner’s back on board.
Truffles and Trails
Truffle HuntViviers — The ship carries us into the Rhône Valley and the postcard-perfect town of Viviers. Join a local guide and their four-legged companion on a truffle hunt through the countryside, lace up for a scenic valley hike, take a bike tour, or simply stroll the centuries-old stone streets. Laura has also scouted a vintage warehouse in a town nearby — two small groups only, bookable for an additional small charge.
Steam Trains and Vineyards
Steam TrainTournon — Climb aboard a vintage steam train for a ride along the dramatic Gorge du Doux. Back on solid ground, Tournon’s artisanal side comes alive over a red wine and chocolate pairing, or a hike among the sunlit vines above Tain l’Hermitage finished with a tasting.
Roman Echoes
Roman RuinsVienne — Some of the most remarkable Roman ruins along the Rhône. A guided walking tour traces ancient remnants and grand cathedrals; or climb Mount Pipet for sweeping views over town and river, or set off on the Viarhôna cycling route.
Lyon’s Markets and Beaujolais Vines
Market DayVillefranche-sur-Saône & Lyon — Moored at Villefranche, today opens the door to Lyon: historic districts, elegant traboules, and the famed Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse market. Or head out to the Beaujolais countryside for an excursion and tasting, or pedal through the city. As night falls, we celebrate our last evening aboard.

Straight off the ship by coach to one of the region’s best-loved flea markets — your last shot at Provençal antiques before heading north.

Coach to the station, train north through the French countryside, then a coach transfer straight to your Paris hotel.
Les Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen
The largest and most famous flea market in the world — multiple interconnected markets, and a full day disappears easily.
Les Puces de Vanves
Laura and Jesse's favorite market in Paris, in the 14th arrondissement — vintage finds, antique jewellery, one-of-a-kind decorative pieces.

Please note: this extension is unhosted and unguided. Laura and Jesse will not be attending and there is no tour guide. It’s timed to put you in Paris for two large flea markets — the rest of your time in Paris is yours to fill however you like.

Left Coast Revivals started as a love of thrifting and hasn't slowed down since. Every trip we run gets built the same way: find the places worth digging through, then build the itinerary around them.
Provence has been on the list for years. L’Isle sur la Sorgue is the kind of place that ruins you for regular antiquing forever (in the best possible kind of way 😉), and the rest of the route — truffle country, Roman ruins, riverside villages, Beaujolais vines — is just as good a reason to go.
But perhaps the best part of this cruise will be the moments we share along the way—conversations around the dinner table, experiencing the luxury of the AmaKristina together, and enjoying special moments on board with a like-minded community.
